Maintain your radiant and dewy skin during this 1-month circuit-breaker
We are currently in the first week of Singapore’s circuit-breaker, when all non-essential works need to be stopped in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. Everyone in this planet knows about the Covid-19 Global pandemic that started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. In Singapore, the government has decided to put a halt on some daily activities in order to prevent Singapore’s healthcare system from being overwhelmed with the increasing number of the Covid-19 cases.
At Privé Clinic, we are supportive of the government’s initiative and have temporarily stopped offering elective aesthetics services from April 7th 2020 until May 4th 2020. During this one-month period, it is important for us to try our best to stay at home and only go out for essential service, such as buying groceries, exercising in the park or seeing a doctor. This however does not mean that we should forego the health and appearance of our skin! For each and every one of us, missing our monthly laser treatments or facetherapy means that we will have to work a little bit harder in order to maintain our skin health. That is why we have come up with ways to maintain that dewy and radiant look whilst staying safe at home!
1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is essential for overall good health. We recommend drinking a minimum of 2 litre of water a day (if you are still exercising regularly, you probably need more). The unfortunate truth is that all the water you drink will reach other organs first before it reaches the skin… therefore, we will still need to apply “water” to our skin, aka apply hydrating moisturizer, at least 2 times a day to keep our skin hydrated!
We personally like Calecim RHC (Restorative Hydration Cream). This hydrating moisturiser comes in a light cream texture with multi-level hydration dynamics. Instant plumping and hydrating effect can be observed from the first application, with restoration of youthful radiance achieved with regular use.
2. Use sunblock even when you are working from home
Working from home does not mean that you are not exposed to UV rays. Unless you are like a hermit who works in the dark, chances are – the windows in your house still transmit sunlight and the sun’s harmful rays.
We personally like Beyond Sun Protection Cream – the sunblock released by the company behind the well-known supplement, Crystal Tomato.
The cream contains SPF 75 – a high level protection against harmful UV rays, and is also currently the only cream that offers more than 50% protection against HEV (High Energy Visible-light) or Blue Light, which are emitted by smartphones, tablets, TVs and LED lighting. We also love it that it has a dry and light texture, unlike other sunscreens in the market.
3. Wash your face regularly
For those who are working from home, not wearing foundation and make up does not mean that you can skip the twice-daily cleansing routine. Even with 10 air purifiers at home, our skin still produce oil and there will still be dirt accumulated on our skin by the end of the day.
We like Privé Lightening Wash as this gentle cleanser is suitable for all skin types, and removes impurities and excess sebum without stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier. It also contains Botanical White Complex, mulberry root extract and nutritive actives to prevent pigmentation to support fair and even-toned skin! For best results, pair it with Privé Cleansing Milk to thorough remove sunblock and cleanse pores to prevent breakouts. (Note: For those who are still applying makeup, we recommend using a make-up remover before you cleanse your face).
4. Exfoliate your skin
Even if you are just staying at home every day, dead skin cells will still build up regularly. Build-up of dead skin cells causes clogging of pores and the appearance of dull skin. Proper exfoliation removes these dead skin cells on the surface to uncover fresh new cells and baby smooth skin beneath.
We personally like ZO exfoliating polish. With magnesium crystal beads, this exfoliating polish removes dead skin cells and any product residue to create a clear, smooth and even toned complexion. Its gentle formula also makes it suitable for all skin types.
5. Serums that help with radiance and pigmentation
To achieve and maintain that skin glow, using a serum that helps reduce pigmentation and increases skin radiance will go a long way.
We like Cliniccare EGF Glow Serum. Enriched with Arbutin and Mulberry Bark Extract, this serum targets the most common forms of hyperpigmentation. It also helps to minimize excessive melanin production while revitalizing a dull complexion to leave skin looking clearer and brighter. Added hyaluronic acid also plumps and hydrates for radiant and dewy “glass” skin like many Korean celebrities!
The above-listed steps are by no means, the only essential things to do. However, in times of the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping things simple will make life easier. For those who already have a solid skincare routine, just continue with what you normally do and drink lots of water. After all, “why fix things which are not broken?”
Last but not least, keep calm, stay safe and stay at home whenever possible. The sooner we can get through this, the sooner we can see you 😊.
