According to a study done by Dr Omar Ahmed of New York University and Charles East, of the British Association of Aesthetics Plastic Surgeons, and published online in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery journal found that nasal tip projection (NTP) at 106 degrees rotation was found to be the most optimum angle to enhance a woman’s looks. A nose that is rotated less than 90 degrees looks long and masculine.
Some examples of those who have a perfect nose will be Kate Middleton, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson.
Every individual’s nose is different and at Prive, we will always strongly recommend that you come in for a consultation with our certified aesthetics doctor to share your expectations and lifestyle so that we can provide the best recommendation to suit your needs.
So how do we identify which noses are more suitable for which procedure? Here are some common scenarios:
I want a higher nose bridge:
For someone with a lower/flat nose bridge, we will usually recommend to go with fillers so that it can create volume and shape to a flat nose bridge. For a noticeable increase in nose bridge height/volume, the patient can opt to have more threads to create more definition.
I want a contoured nose:
Nose threads are recommended for those who are looking to create a sharper and more defined nose. And this can be done by inserting threads from the bridge to the tip of the nose to give it a lift.
I want a sharper/smaller nose tip:
If you are looking to have a sharper smaller nose tip. I will recommend to go with nose threads. Nose fillers are meant to create volume and too much fillers can actually cause the nose tip to look bigger and broader. With threads, it’s more effective at creating a sharper and lifted nose tip.
I want a straighter nose:
Some people have bumps or ‘dents’ on their noses. This uneven-ness on the nose can be corrected with fillers to fill up the “space” and close up the unevenness first.
Can I use a combination of both fillers and threads?
Yes, in fact more and more patients are combining both procedures for optimal results. Fillers can give you the desired height for the bridge first, and threads will then be used to increase the contouring of the nose and lifting the tip.
